Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep – 2.4L L4: CLO# 9-0736S
ATTENTION: The original crankshaft sprocket timing mark and corresponding marked chain link may be in one of two different positions based on engine production date.
With the crankshaft keyway at the 9 o’clock position:
- On EARLY production engines, the timing mark is just past the 5 o’clock position.
- On LATER production engines, the timing mark is 4 teeth counterclockwise at just past 3 o’clock.
- The Cloyes supplied products will match LATER production (3 o’clock) design with timing marks on the crankshaft sprocket 4 teeth over as compared to the early OE production.
- In all situations the chains are marked appropriately to match the sprocket. If using both a Cloyes supplied crank sprocket and chain, no precautions need to be made, simply align the marks as instructed. If replacing only a chain or only a sprocket you must determine if the original components match the replacements. If necessary, a new timing mark can be made on the original chain or sprocket with a paint marker.
