Cloyes’ Arkansas Manufacturing Plant Achieves One Year of Operation Without Lost-Time Accident News |April 1, 2020 FORT SMITH, Ark., April 1, 2020 – Employees at the Cloyes manufacturing plant in Paris, Ark., today celebrated one year of operations without a single lost-time accident. After opening its Paris, Ark., manufacturing plant in 1963, Cloyes successfully regained ownership of the manufacturing operation from American Axle and Manufacturing (AAM) in October 2019 but had been operating as a separate entity for the past year. Just two months after regaining ownership, in December 2019, the plant achieved its standalone ISO 9001:2015 certification. “Our entire team has accomplished many great initiatives throughout the past year as we carved out our business from the American Axle & Manufacturing operation,” said Steve Fairbank, vice president of manufacturing for Cloyes. “The past year was not a normal time for our manufacturing environment as we faced additional challenges, such as the moving of essential machinery, cross training of employees, and relocating different parts of the operation. We did this all with no interruption to our business or our customers. But one of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is that we did this all with zero accidents.” At the 155,000-square-foot Cloyes manufacturing plant in Paris, Arkansas, USA, highly-skilled employees manufacture machined powertrain gears, sprockets, and idler assemblies for automotive original equipment manufacturers, the automotive aftermarket, marine, and high-performance applications. The plant’s key processes include machining, hobbing and shaping, heat treatment, and finishing, and is also home to a quality and metrology laboratory that supports both manufacturing and engineering product development. “Our team, and entire company, remains committed to employee health and safety which is evident by achieving this milestone,” added Fairbanks.
