Cloyes to Present Educational, Technical Information During PERA Webinar

FORT SMITH, Ark., October 8, 2019 – The transition of cam drives over the many years of vehicle production has left automotive technicians with the need to learn proper ways to repair complete timing drive systems. As most automotive professional technicians know, a vehicle’s timing chain synchronizes the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft(s) ensuring proper timing and allows the engine’s valves to open and close during each cylinder’s firing. Timing chain systems are not scheduled maintenance items so repairing before catastrophic failure is key. Therefore, it is important to be able to recognize the symptoms.

During an October 16 webinar hosted by the Production Engine Remanufacturers Association (PERA), Cloyes Vice President of Engineering Jason Thompson and Technical Support Manager Cody Smith will present “Timing Drive Systems: An In-Depth Review of Chain Systems, Components, and Technologies.” During the one-hour webinar, the Cloyes technical staff will discuss the technologies involved in each part type that is included in a timing drive system along with the different drive systems commonly used.

“Cloyes is a leader in the timing system segment and we offer our customers chains, belts, and all related components allowing us to be a single-source supplier for all timing system products,” said Thompson. “Doing so gives our engineering, product development, and technical support teams the ability to address any issues with timing systems and ensure the users of our products repair their own and their customer’s vehicles correctly.”

Cloyes will also present to attendees several of its recently launched product innovations, including timing chain kits with variable valve timing (VVT) actuators and timing chain water pump kits. These kits reiterate Cloyes’ focus on providing its customers with a complete repair solution.

About Production Engine Remanufacturers Association

Knowledge, experience and personal contacts are keys to success in any business. Fortunately, there is an organization that makes all three readily available to those in the engine remanufacturing industry.

The Production Engine Remanufacturers Association is an association of individuals and firms who are remanufacturing internal combustion engines and their major components, or are supplying necessary components, supplies and equipment required in the remanufacturing process.

The goal of the Association is to provide its members with the opportunity to exchange the ideas, methods and procedures necessary to efficiently produce remanufactured products which are equal or superior to original products in quality and performance.

PERA adheres to and supports the premise that its members are dedicated to the highest business ethics, customer satisfaction, employee consideration and to the continual up-grading of the engine remanufacturing industry.
